Get the 411
Check your iPhone storage by going to Settings> General > iPhone Storage. I have a 256 gigabits, hence the massive amount of space I have left. But what if I didn’t have so much space? I can see below that Photos and iMessages take up the most space on my iPhone X. I think that’s because I like to keep old convos so I can go back if I need to and photos.
Old apps, music and podcasts
Do you have apps on your iPhone that you haven’t used in weeks or even months? Well it’s probably time to get rid of those apps today. If there’s a website version that’s mobile friendly stick to that instead. The same goes for old podcasts, music and videos that we all no longer listen too. I mean, yea I like to put on Missy Elliott but not that often!
Since it’s been established that I love to keep messages maybe you like to delete those messages. Well, if you have iOS 8 or later now you can! Go to Settings > Messages. Under Keep Message, select 30 days or 1 year. Here’s what it looks like.
Auto expire audio messages
Another type of message are audio messages. Under the same settings as above under Messages, select to expire read audio messages after 2 minutes.
Other things you can do is only save HDR photos and get rid of those duplicate pictures.l by going to Settings > Photo & Camera. Scroll to the bottom and deselect Keep Normal Photo.

Photosharing & Searching

iOS protects your privacy. Even when websites don’t.
According to Apple – believes privacy is a fundamental human right, which is why iOS has always been designed with built-in encryption, on-device intelligence, and other tools that let you share what you want on your terms. And with iOS 12, we’re taking privacy even further. Safari now prevents Share buttons and comment widgets on web pages from tracking you without your permission. Safari also prevents advertisers from collecting your device’s unique characteristics, so they can’t identify your device or retarget ads to you across the web.
The iPhone X was released on November 3, 2017 and here’s what we think about it but lets go through its features first. According to Apple, the iPhone X is:
Our vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen. One so immersive the device itself disappears into the experience. And so intelligent it can respond to a tap, your voice, and even a glance. With iPhone X, that vision is now a reality. Say hello to the future.
The screen, 5.8‑inch Super Retina and OLED. Its the first OLED screen that rises to the standards of iPhone, with accurate, stunning colors, true blacks, high brightness, and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio.
TrueDepth Camera. A tiny space houses some of the most sophisticated technology we’ve ever developed, including the cameras and sensors that enable Face ID.
Apple claims its “All-New Design” is the most durable glass ever in a smartphone, front and back. Surgical‑grade stainless steel. Wireless charging. Water and dust resistance. Do you think it is?
Gestures. Familiar gestures make navigation natural and intuitive. Instead of pressing a button, a single swipe takes you home from anywhere. Don’t forget, Apple took away the home button on this phone. Personally, we hear that the people does not miss the home button.
FaceID and facial mapping. Face ID is enabled by the TrueDepth camera and is simple to set up. It projects and analyzes more than 30,000 invisible dots to create a precise depth map of your face. Face ID uses infrared, it works in low light and in the dark. Apple has built a Flood Illuminator into the TrueDepth camera to make sure there’s always adequate infrared light to take a scan of your face.Face ID works with hats, beards, glasses, sunglasses, scarves, makeup and all other accessories and items that might partially obscure a face. Face ID needs to see your eyes, nose, and mouth to work, so things like the surgical masks doctors wear prevent Face ID from working.
Other main features include animoji and wireless inductive charging! Apple chose glass for the body of the iPhone X to enable inductive wireless charging and Apple us utilizing Qi wireless charging standard that is also available in many Android phones, which means the iPhone X can charge wirelessly using any Qi-certified inductive charging device.
So in the end result we really love the iPhone X and ALL its features. Yes it has taken some time to get over no home button and the cool new gestures but it has been a pretty awesome few months using the new iPhone X!
The new shiny iPhone X – Some of us has decided we simply cannot afford the $1,000 price tag on the new iPhone X. All those cool features like Face ID and the bigger screen is very hard to say no to, but there’s still that price…and even though all the hype has been over the X, the iPhone 8 is still an option if you’re looking to upgrade without spending a fortune!
Now, if you’re upgrading from the 6 or 6s from to the 8 you’re going to see a world of difference. But what about if you’re just going from the iPhone 7 to the iPhone 8? Is it worth upgrading? Let’s find out!
iPhone 7 vs iPhone 8
Let’s start off with the glass…there’s a lot more of it! By looking at photos of the two phones they appear to be virtually identical, except for one major change, the back of the iPhone 8 is made of glass!
That’s right, just like the iPhone X that you’ve heard so much about, the iPhone 8 also has a glass back. But is it easier to crack? Unless you plan on juggling your iPhone! This change makes that phone .2mm thicker, which you’ll probably never notice, but what you might notice is the weight. The glass backing makes the iPhone 8 is 7% heavier than it’s predecessor. So what about the display? Well there’s not much to say here.
The only difference is that the iPhone 8 has received the “True Tone” display technology that debuted on the iPad Pro. What is true tone? If you haven’t heard of True Tone technology it basically means that the color on the screen is always reacting to the surrounding lighting to give you the most accurate color balance.
Tell me about the battery. Its really the same as the iPhone 7…but Apple introduced wireless charging! Just like the iPhone X, the iPhone 8 comes with wireless charging capabilities! But there’s a catch…It does not come with a wireless charger. That’s something that you’ll have to buy separately.
Well there’s also the fast charging option that’s supported by the iPhone 8. It sounds great right?! Except there’s catch, it uses USB-C, which means you’ll need a different cable and different power adapter. Purchasing both of those from Apple will set you back another $75!
Let’s talk about performance: Start Getting Excited huh!?
This is where the iPhone 8 starts to set itself apart with the new All Bionic chip. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are nearly equal in performance to the iPhone X. According to Apple, that means a 25% faster when performing at high-efficiency, and up to 70% faster when multitasking and hopping between apps when compared to the iPhone 7.
Camera: Same Camera, Better Photos?
The specs on the 8’s camera are identical to the 7, but what sets it apart is the A11 chip we mentioned before. The improvements promised include: faster low-light focus and noise reduction. I think we could all agree needed an upgrade on the iPhone 7!
Our Conclusion. The iPhone 8 is not worth upgrading from the iPhone 7 UNLESS you want all those cool animojis Apple introduced, HA! If you’re upgrading from the iPhone 6 or 6s or even LOWER, the improvements are definitely worth it! Just find your way back over here to get the best price on your old iPhone!
